R. E. Lee & Son was selected as General Contractor for conversion of the Norcross Storage Building (former Michie Grocery) to an apartment building. This is a historic building located in downtown Charlottesville. The Owner was eligible for historic tax credits in this renovation. The work involved a complete renovation of the interior space, although very old finishes were preserved and restored, such as exposed timber structure, wood floors and exposed clay tile block walls. Interior work included installation of a new elevator and stairs. A new roof was installed on the building and the exterior fabric of the building was preserved.
