Martha Jefferson Hospital / Cardwell Center, Charlottesville, VA

R. E. Lee & Son, Inc. was selected as the general contractor additions and alterations to Martha Jefferson Hospital. The project consisted of 121,600 square feet of new construction and approximately 40,000 square feet of major renovations. The project scope consisted of construction of a new Ambulatory Care Center, new Cancer Treatment Center Critical Care Unit, addition of 6th and 7th floors in the existing building, Boiler Room Expansion, complete remodeling of the Emergency and Radiology Department, a new Entrance Plaza, replacement of the exterior skin and windows on one of the existing buildings, new parking lots, and other miscellaneous additions. The scope of work also included renovation and remodeling of the Medical Records Department, Laboratory, Entrance Lobby, Cafeteria and Dining areas, Surgery Department, modernization and extension of the existing elevators, and installation of new sprinkler and fire alarm systems throughout the hospital. All of the work was done without interruption of the hospital operations.
